AST Telling the Story
Tangier 1947 (By AST Students)
For the month of January, two MIT students taught a group of 30 students in grades 6-12. Lessons were held in the Makerspace and focused on mechanical design processes. Topics included CAD in Onshape, programming in Python, Excel, data visualization, technical communication, MATLAB, basic control theory, the history and basics of 3D printing, technical sketching 1 and 2, branding, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Python, Onshape, and Autodesk Fusion 360. The program enabled AST students to experience the topics through hands-on experiential teaching, rather than lecture-style pedagogy. We have received a invitation to do it again next year.
